Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, medical, emergency relief organization that provides assistance to people worldwide, regardless of their background, religion or political convictions. Above all, we aim to save lives and to offer medical care to victims of disasters, wars and epidemics. Working together with local staff, we give direct support to the population. MSF also appeals to those in power, including governments and international organizations, and speaks out about the abuses we encounter in the course of our work.

MSF coordinates operations through collaborations between global offices. ‘Artsen zonder Grenzen Nederland’ (MSF-Holland) has a partnership with offices in the UK and Germany. This partnership, known as ‘MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam’ (MSF-OCA), operates medical humanitarian interventions in about 25 countries. Annually, MSF-OCA deploys approximately 1,200 international staff and employs 10,000 national staff.

Business Application Coordinator

Based in Amsterdam

Reporting to the Head of ICT department


Main Responsibilities
Under the leadership of the Head of Department, the Business Application Coordinator oversees a portfolio of business applications with a specific focus on the main ERP being currently implemented (Dynamics 365).

He/she will structure the support towards the business and ensure a high quality delivery with a strong customer focus. While overseeing and coordinating a team of 7-9 people, this role calls for a leader who owns the overall responsibility around Application Support, and who is passionate to grow and improve this specific domain in the IT department.

Applications may be of various types (cloud-based, on-premises, mobile…) and in all the areas covered by MSF including medical, operation management, finance, HR, donor management, digital and communications, supply chain, and Information Technology

Main activities

  • Coordinate and prioritise the Application Support team’s work load using our Topdesk tool;
  • Oversee change management in co-ordination with the Change Manager;
  • Examine and implement potential areas for Service Improvement;
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to the team;
  • Align with the ICT Support Operations Coordinator & the ICT Field Advisor Coordinator;
  • Manage processes and procedure documentation;
  • Communicate with project teams and external 3rd party vendors;
  • Design appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators;
  • Maintain application monitoring, performance tuning and testing;
  • Coordinate 3rd line Application Support;
  • Provide input to the implementation, backup, roll-back plans and release management;

Candidate profile

  • Degree in computer science, information systems, or related field;
  • 3 + years’ experience in Microsoft Dynamics;
  • 5+ years’ experience in Application Support;
  • 3+ years’ of demonstrated experience in a Technical or Project Lead role;
  • 3+ years experience in line management;
  • Experience in an international environment would be preferred;
  • ITIL and/or BISL certification;
  • Knowledge of processes and applications in various business areas such as Finance, HR, Supply Chain, medical data management, CRM, etc.);
  • Extensive knowledge in tailor-made and off-the-shelf solutions (ERPs, on-premises and cloud solutions, middleware, data warehouse, and BI tools);
  • Deep understanding of the applications and of the interdependent relationship between infrastructure, information security and the applications they enable;
  • Adherence to IT policies and processes to ensure consistent quality of service;
  • Mature and self-motivated professional able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment;
  • Capacity to lead by example and develop strong personnel performance goals;
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, gain their confidence and drive initiatives;
  • Focus on client satisfaction, high-quality service and process orientation;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a mature approach to mentoring and coaching;
  • Respect & promote MSF Values.
  • Strong capacity to manage expectations while maintaining quality and achieving results;
  • Must have strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities with excellent written and spoken communication skills.

We offer

  • A challenging and exciting position in an international environment.
  • A contract for one year with a renewal option (subject to satisfactory performance) based on a fulltime appointment (40 hours/week).
  • A gross monthly salary scale 7 between € 3,199 and € 4,568, depending on professional experience, based on a fulltime appointment.
